It is now commonly admitted that undertaking clinical trial in Central and Eastern Europe contributes to significantly reduce the overall cost of the drug development phases. The following comparison of relative cost for a same trial in various countries was provided by an official from the National Health Services in the UK. In this case, the cost in the UK was the reference and therefore given a score of 100. As opposed to the countries in EGeen territories, China and India as other emerging low cost territories for clinical trials have a varying level of standard of care, issues of intellectual property compliance, more challenging regulatory and logistics demands. Furthermore, these countries often have different demographics of the US and Europe. |
